Community rules & Guidelines
Welcome to the Hello Interpreters community! To ensure a positive, productive, and safe environment for all our members, please adhere to the following rules and guidelines.
By participating in this community, you agree to these terms:
Encouraged Behaviors:
- Be Professional and Courteous: Treat every member with respect. Politeness goes a long way in maintaining a constructive dialogue.
- Share Knowledge Generously: Your expertise can greatly benefit others. Share insights and advice freely.
- Be Supportive: Encourage fellow members, commend their achievements, and offer help when you can.
- Engage Constructively: Contribute to discussions with meaningful, thoughtful posts that encourage further conversation.
- Respect Privacy: Keep personal information private, and do not share anything about others that you wouldn’t want to be shared about yourself.
- Uphold Integrity: Be honest and ethical in your communications. Cite sources when sharing someone else’s work and do not plagiarize.
Prohibited Behaviors:
- Do not engage in personal attacks or insults. Disagreements should be about ideas, not individuals.
- Do not post discriminatory, racist, offensive, or obscene materials or statements. We strive to be an inclusive and welcoming space for all.
- Do not spam. This includes posting repetitive content, advertisements, or self-promotion that does not contribute to the community discussions.
- Do not share confidential information. This includes unauthorized sharing of private conversations, proprietary information, or any content that you do not have the right to disclose.
- Do not engage in or promote illegal activities.
- Do not manipulate conversations for malicious purposes. This includes trolling, baiting, or deliberate disruption of discussions.
- Do not sell products or services. This is not a marketplace; our purpose is to share knowledge and experiences related to languages and interpreting.
If you wish to continue conversations or collaborations outside of our site, for your privacy and security, please exchange personal contact details via direct messaging within our community platform, rather than posting them in public forums or group discussions.
Three-Strike Policy
Our community operates on a strict three-strike policy to maintain a safe and professional environment. Here’s how it works:
- First Violation: A warning will be issued, and the offending content will be removed. The member will be privately informed about which rule was violated and will be given guidance on how to avoid future violations. This is intended to educate and encourage better participation within the community guidelines.
- Second Violation: The offending content will be removed, and the member will receive a temporary suspension of posting privileges. The duration of the suspension will depend on the severity of the violation. The member will be contacted privately to understand the severity of the misconduct and the importance of adherence to community standards.
- Third Violation: If a third violation occurs, it will result in a permanent ban from the community. This step is final and non-negotiable. A permanent ban is a serious action taken to preserve the quality and safety of the community space for all members.
Members are expected to take warnings seriously and to learn from them. In all instances, our aim is to uphold a high standard of interaction without public shaming. We handle issues discreetly to respect our members while enforcing community standards.
Reporting Misconduct:
If you encounter someone violating these guidelines or engaging in misconduct:
- Do not engage. Avoid escalating the situation.
- Report immediately. Use the ‘Report’ feature to alert moderators to the issue, or contact us directly at ForumDesk@hellointerpreters.com.
- Provide evidence. When possible, include screenshots or detailed descriptions of the violation.
Preemptive Concerns:
If you are ever in doubt about whether your content may violate community guidelines, we strongly encourage you to reach out to us before posting. We appreciate your proactive approach and are more than willing to provide guidance to avoid any potential issues. This not only helps maintain the community’s integrity but also supports a culture of open communication and preventative care. Contact us at any time at ForumDesk@hellointerpreters.com or CommunityHelp@hellointerpreters.com with your concerns or questions, and we will assist you in ensuring your contributions are appropriate and valuable to the community.
Community Management Rights
The Hello Interpreters Community values respect, professionalism, and integrity. To uphold these values, we reserve the right to:
- Terminate Membership: At our discretion, we may terminate the membership of any individual for severe infractions without going through the three-strike process. This action will be reserved for the most serious violations that compromise the safety, security, or integrity of the community. Should this occur, the member will be notified via email of the specific reasons for their ban, ensuring transparency in our decision-making process.
- Delete Content: We will promptly delete any content found to be fraudulent, deceptive, misleading, or in violation of our community regulations. This ensures that all members can rely on the quality and authenticity of information shared within the community.
This community thrives on the professional and respectful interaction of its members. Respect and professional conduct are paramount. Your adherence to these guidelines facilitates a professional atmosphere where meaningful exchanges can flourish. We are dedicated to fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all community members.
Thank you for being an integral part of Hello Interpreters, and for helping to create a welcoming and professional community.
